Tuesday November 15th - Monday November 21st
- 11/16 We had our first snow of the season, and it was a lot - about 2 or 3 inches. Ok, not a ton, but enough for the kids to play in. They LOVED it!
- 11/16 Mattie finally went poop on the toilet for the first time! We've tried everything with Mattie: rewards, punishments, silly songs, stories, demonstrations, but nothing really seems to work. We've been telling her for weeks that if she went on the toilet she could have a mirage of different things (anything she expresses interest in basically :). So she finally got some chocolate ice cream (we've been telling her she could have a chocolate popsicle but we were out, so she got a Wendy's junior frosty instead) and horsey toys. We were elated to say the least!! But then a couple of hours later, after she went to bed, she wasn't falling asleep and, sure enough, she had pooped pants again :(. Arrrrrrgh!! This is so frustrating!!
- I took Powell to the doctor this week for his cold. I just wanted to be sure that he doesn't have an ear infection and that it hasn't moved into his lungs. Thank goodness it was a no for both of those. But the doctor told me that his cold can last for two weeks. Poor guy. The worst part of it all is when he throws up because he's gagged on his mucous. That and his sad little hoarse cough. It's so hard to watch such a tiny little guy be sick. Hopefully he'll be over it by Thanksgiving (that will be about two weeks).
- Remember the notorious book-hitting incident? Well I had CJ make an apology card for Mila and even things were already ok between them, I hope that more than making Mila feel good, I hope the lesson rings home to CJ that not only do we not hit, but when we make mistakes, it is important to make amends. Of course, I'm talking about a 4 year old, so I hope we're just laying some good foundations.
- Funny story: we got a baby gift this week from elderly woman in our ward. She just showed up on our doorstep with two adorable outfits! I was so touched by her generosity and thoughtfulness. Especially because we really don't know her very well at all. So anyway, the funny part...turns out the adorable outfits are for girls!! Hahaha! Oh man! Now I'm just not sure what to do. I'm worried that she'll soon figure it out that we have a boy and will be totally embarrassed. And I don't want to give them away, but I don't want to waste them either. Maybe I can try to exchange them somewhere? Anyway, when I think about it it makes me smile every time; not because she gave us girl clothes for our little boy, but because she went out of her way to do something kind for a family she barely knows. What wonderful people we have here!
Happy Monday!
