MARCH 2012

3/1 So Paige reprimanded CJ for playing with a serrated bread knife, and as she was explaining that he could cut himself, she grabbed the knife away from him and cut herself in the process! It ended up being a great object lesson for CJ and Mattie (though Paige felt quite silly)

3/2 Mattie sharing her doggy with Powell. What a sweetheart!

3/3 Bryce and Paige attended their first Republican caucus. If you can't tell by the  line out the door of the building, it was very well attended :)

3/6 Our budding photographer, CJ (who likes the self-portraits)

3/8 Because it took so long to get these sent, we decided to make our thank you cards extra fancy (for Christmas...yes, that's pathetic, but better late than never, I say). Grandma Forsgren still has hers up, so I guess it was worth it :)

3/8 Bryce's grandfather, Glen, made this beautiful china cabinet for his wife years and years and years ago (it used to have doors). When he passed away about a year after his dear wife, Bryce's mom Sheila, wanted to keep it in the family. She intended on refinishing it black and putting it in their dining room. As a gesture of thanks for letting us live with them the summer after law school while Bryce studied for the bar, Paige offered to refinish it for Sheila. They brought it to our house, and then Paige got pregnant, so it sat in our garage about a year. Finally, after having Powell (and then some) Paige got around to refinishing it. Isn't it beautiful?! More pics to come of the completely finished results (i.e., hardware and shelves in use :)

Paige's Birthday
3/13
Bryce took Paige out to Fujiyama for her birthday

Paige's sweet friend, Lana, dropped off a birthday package with yummy chocolates and this great lip gloss and fabulous ring! So thoughtful! It made Paige feel very special and loved

When we got home from dinner, Kelsey and the kids had made Paige a cake, so we celebrated with cake and presents. Another fabulous birthday!

3/14

3/15 No joke, CJ really fell asleep like this!

3/16 CJ's preschool class had a St. Patrick's Day pajama party, so CJ came with his pillow and some green shamrock jello jigglers

3/17 Bryce and Paige celebrated St. Patrick's day by breaking in Paige's birthday gift from Bryce's parents: a double jogging stroller/bike trailer! Mattie wasn't very excited about it at first...

...but once we got on the road running, she was fine. CJ and Mattie loved it!

3/19 One of Mattie's first drawing that actually resembles something - she said it was an octopus!

3/19 Mattie got some books for her birthday, one of which was The Barnyard Jamboree. It comes with a disc with accompanying music and even an animated version of the book. CJ and Mattie enjoy watching it on the laptop and following along with the book

3/19 CJ fell asleep on Powell's lap :)

 Relief Society Birthday Dinner
3/20
Back in January, Paige was called to the Relief Society presidency and she is over the Relief Society activities (formerly known as Enrichment). Her first activity was one of the biggest of the year - the Relief Society Birthday Dinner. It was a lot of work deciding on a theme and decorations and food and favors, but thanks to a great presidency and committee members, it came together beautifully! The theme was "Let Us Choose That Good Part," in reference to the story of Mary and Martha (Luke 10:42). We had a yummy Cafe Rio salad bar with Costco chocolate layered cake, and our Relief Society president, Lora Lewis, spoke on the importance of our priorities (based on the talk "Good, Better, Best" by Elder Dallin H. Oaks). It was a wonderful meeting and what once was the Primary room worked well for our gathering :)
The centerpieces of each table were gift wrapped party favors: these little mini pouches that we sewed for the sisters (we sewed 60 of these things)! Inside was a laminated quote by Elder Oaks from his talk. They were a hit!

3/20 Best buds

3/27 Play dough time!

3/27 CJ wanted to take a nap on the couch. Ok! Doesn't he look so peaceful?

3/27 The first rain of the season

3/28 CJ was really proud of the long legs he made with his play dough

3/31 Powell

Some Monday Night Musings from March:

- 3/3 And now Mattie has learned to climb down the ladder to the bunk bed
- 3/6 Powell is all over the place now. He hasn't started crawling, and we haven't actually caught him scooting, but we put him in his bed in one position, and when we come back, he's all turned around. Today I laid him on the bed with his feet to me. I got up to shower and when I came back, he was now facing his head toward me. That means he somehow turned all the way around! We have seen him stick his little bum in the air when he's on his belly so we know he'll be on on those knees soon (too soon, if you ask us :).
