COURTNEY AND MADHAV'S WEDDING EXTRAVAGANZA - PART 1

Paige's sister, Courtney, got married a few weeks ago and Paige and Bryce were so excited to go to Utah and see family and participate in all the festivities. It had been 9 months since we were last there, and it was for Paige's dad's funeral...guess we're really at that stage where only funerals and weddings bring us all together?? We'll have to take care of that. Anyway, we left Wenatchee early Wednesday morning, and about 14 hours later, we arrived at Paige's parents'. CJ and Mattie did pretty well, though CJ is definitely more aware of the tediousness of the drive. We were only minutes outside of Wenatchee when we got the first of many are-we-there-yets. Where do kids learn that? Anyway, Thursday was spent lunching with our good friends, the Adams', BBQing with Paige's fam, and prepping for the mehndi party the next day.

For those of you who don't know, Madhav, Courtney's husband, is from India. He's been in the states since he was 18, so he's very Americanized. However, they tried to stay as close to a traditional Indian/Hindu wedding as possible. So, following tradition, the bride's family hosted a mehndi, or henna, party on Friday, and it was just for the girls. Paige and her sister-in-law, Katie, went to the nail salon Friday morning and got a manicure (Katie) and a pedicure (Paige) so they'd be all set for the henna. We won't go into all the details of the craziness that ensued afterwards making the bride's family late for the henna party they were hosting, but needless to say, once we got there and the food was placed and arranged, we could all finally relax and enjoy the experience. We ended up being there for about 5 hours and it was such a blast!

Courtney, the bride, getting her intricate wedding henna

It took the henna artist a couple of hours to complete Courtney's bridal henna, and Courtney didn't even get half of what many Indian brides get

Madhav's parents were here from India, and so Neena, his mother, gave us a tutorial on how to put on our saris (which were authentic, from India)

One of the most exciting parts of the mehndi party was when Paige's mom, Norine, finally gave into the all the pressure and got some henna as well (she was worried it wouldn't come off her skin :) - just a small flower on her left ankle

Paige's first round of henna

All the Forsgren girls henna-ed up (L-R): Paige, Jenny (sister-in-law), Melanie, Kenya (Courtney's daughter), Courtney, Katie (sister-in-law), and Norine (the mom)

Jenny, Paige, and Katie all went back for round two before the henna artist left after 6 hours of work

Bryce had the kids all day and took them to lunch with his brother, Cameron, and then later watched Paige's brother's  kids while a bunch of the guys went to a movie. What a great guy! Later that night CJ took this picture, which not only shows us in a candid moment, but epitomizes our relationship these days: Paige exhausted and Bryce rubbing her shoulders :)
