MONDAY NIGHT MUSINGS

- We went to CJ's first carnival! CJ rode the ferris wheel, the train, and the swings. Mattie rode the swings too and cried when we took her off. And the last time CJ rode the swings he decided he was done before the ride was over, so he tried to get off while it was still going - he stopped the whole ride! Thank goodness it was just a kiddie ride!

- (5/27/10) CJ started saying the C-word, as in c-r-a-p. Yes, Bryce and I both say it, but I think he got it from Bryce :), especially because he's only repeated it after Bryce has said it. In fact, I haven't even heard him say it...yet. Hopefully we can nip this one in the bud.

- If I haven't already mentioned it, were the last to move away. All of our friends moved right after graduation, but we stuck around until the end of the month. We have totally missed them, so it was so great to see Misty this week! She came back for a few days for her job, and was able to stay at our place while we were in Utah, and then we went to dinner with her the night before she left. Love that girl!

- Mattie has become our little copy-cat. If CJ, or anyone for that matter, is laughing, so is Mattie. When CJ dances or shakes his head, so does Mattie. At dinner this past weekend, CJ was singing the Fruit Salad song. Mattie doesn't sing the words, but she started to sing the song, raising her mumbles at just the right moments. There was no mistaking she was singing the same song. Then, at the same dinner, Bryce burped, and sure enough, Mattie stopped what she was doing, looked at Daddy, and proceeded to fake burp!

- Mattie does this interesting thing where she pokes all her food with her index finger before she eats it. Pretty much anything that we give her in pieces: hot dogs, pizza, bananas, etc. I don't know if she's testing the consistancy or what, but it's pretty funny regardless.

- We packed up this weekend and moved today. Did I mention that? What a fabulous way to spend Memorial Day weekend. Blah! Anyway, as we were moving, a small key fell out of our chest of drawers on to our stairs. It looks like one of the keys to the girly diaries I used to have growing up. Obviously, not much of a key, and we had no idea what it went to (especially because our drawers were supposed to be empty). Anyway, we gave the key to CJ and he was seriously obsessed with his "tiny key" for the next 5 hours! He would throw it up and then try to find it (which got kind of old for us since half the time he really couldn't find it and we would have to), walking around saying, "Key? Where are you?" Then he would turn to us and ask us, "Hey, where's the key go?" Who knew such a tiny thing could give such entertainment?!

- I think manis/pedis were designed for recent movers! My nails have taken a major thrashing and I could really use a good hour or two at the salon...

- Speaking of moving, considering all the major changes in our kids' lives right now - being ripped out of the only home they've really known, losing all their friends, having their routine/schedule completely change, and moving away from all their familiar places - they have done so well! We've only had minimal meltdowns and no trouble-making. Mattie does have her tantrums, but I have a feeling those have nothing to do with moving. Hmmmmm...

- (5/31/10) Mattie was full of lots of funniness on our move over to Seattle from Spokane: playing peek-a-boo and hiding under her blanket for seriously like 3 minutes; licking her feet (which actually started last week on our roadtrip back from Utah); eating through her legs, as in legs spread-eagle, feet by her ears; rubbing her eyes with her feet. Oh, and I think we figured out that when Mattie is saying "doggy," I think she's really saying "JJ," who is Bryce's family's dog, because it sounds like "jee-jee." At least something entertaining came out of our move!
